About OUR NEW LOCATION…

We hope you are excited as we are about our up-and-coming move to our new, larger, two-storey venue on South Pier Road at the National Waterways Museum.

This year we celebrated 19 years in business and after serving clients from Underwood Drive for the past 11 years, the move will allow us to expand our award winning services and create one of the region's most comprehensive centres for luxury hairdressing, hair loss solutions and inclusive hair services.

Our new venue will be split across two floors, with the ground floor dedicated to luxury cutting, colouring and styling services, while the first floor will focus on hair loss services and contain a specialist consultation space designed to support clients experiencing hair loss, thinning hair and medical hair concerns.

Our expanded hair loss space will allow Richard and the team to offer more clients these life changing services such as mesh integration systems, custom-made wigs, hair toppers and personalised solutions, helping clients regain confidence in a discreet and supportive environment.

A key feature of the new salon will be the introduction of mirrorless hairdressing stations, designed specifically for hair loss clients. The innovative concept allows hair systems to be removed, maintained and refitted without clients having to sit in front of a mirror throughout the process, reducing anxiety and creating a more comfortable experience.

"Over the years I have lost my hair during pregnancies, menopause and episodes of alopecia. Although my hair grew in length it was very thin and fine on my scalp. This was extremely upsetting for me as I had a mane of thick, luxurious hair in my youth. I considered wearing a wig but couldn't find any that looked realistic.

I met with Richard who was very professional and yet sympathetic and understanding. I was made to feel comfortable, with no embarrassment, whilst Richard explained the mesh integration system in meticulous detail.

I have now been visiting the salon and using this system for many years. Mesh integration has given me great confidence, making me look younger and allaying my "hair loss" insecurities. I cannot recommend the mesh integration system, the service and staff highly enough. Richards's attention to detail and expertise is unmatched in this field."

The private first-floor facilities will also allow us to expand our popular hair services for women who wear the hijab or other religious head coverings. The dedicated female-only days will provide a completely private environment where clients can receive professional modest hairdressing services away from public view.

The Boutique Atelier has long been recognised for our commitment to inclusivity and equality within the hairdressing industry. Our salon was the first in Cheshire and North Wales to be recognised by Strands For Trans as a Transgender Safe Space Hair Salon and we were among the first salons in the UK to introduce a gender-neutral service menu.

Our salon's philosophy is simple: "Hair has no gender."

We tailor all our services to the individual, creating an environment where clients can access professional hair services free from judgement, labels, or outdated industry conventions.

Richard strongly believes in training and developing his team of local hairdressers and apprentices pushing them to be the best they can be and to see the amazing career opportunities available in hairdressing, that it is not just a job, but a vocation that can help them travel the world.

Countless members of our Atelier have themselves earned industry recognition, winning awards, working on red carpets, backstage at London Fashion Week, at international trade and fashion shows, opened their own salons and even becoming the faces of products launches.

Richard is one of the UK's most celebrated hairdressers, having won numerous national industry awards and led backstage teams at more than 60 international fashion week runway shows. Most recently, he won the gold award for “Global Stylist 2026” at the Salon Business awards and has earned a reputation for pushing boundaries in both creative and client-focused hairdressing.

Our relocation marks an important investment in, and our continued commitment to Ellesmere Port, bringing our thriving local business into one of the town's most historic landmarks. The National Waterways Museum's unique setting will provide a distinctive and permanent new home for the salon while supporting our continued growth.

We are planning a grand opening event at our new National Waterways Museum location on Sunday 30th August, between 1pm and 4pm.
