Skin Testing Protocol.

At The Boutique Atelier we take your health and wellbeing seriously and as an educated and professional salon we would always start every clients journey with us with a skin allergy test.

Recent study’s have shown that exposure to covid-19, if you have had it, been asymptomatic or even after your vaccine the risk of having an allergic reaction to some allergens increases. PPD is a known irritant and allergen which is present in most hair colourants. Because of this increased risk of reaction along with guidance from our insurance and L’Oreal Professional we require all of our clients old and new to have an updated skin allergy test before your first colour after lockdown.

This must be carried out in our salon a minimum of 48 hours before your first appointment. During your skin test you will be asked to fill out the below form and a small amount of dye will be placed behind you ear which should stay on for 48 hours. If any irritation occurs remove the dye immediately and clean the skin.

For regular clients this allergy test is valid for 12 months. However if you leave your colour longer than 6 months between services you will be required to have a new allergy test. Every January you will be asked to attend an allergy test update in salon to confirm nothing has changed.

For regular clients, we ask each time you have a colour you confirm that nothing has changed since your annual skin test and that your colour can go ahead without the need of a fresh allergy test.
